Oval Office Alumni

When the Oval Office program began in 2004, the goal was three-fold: to provide women with the skills needed to run for political office, to connect them with women who have successfully made the journey into elected office, and to create a solid network of women who aid each other in their advancement in political life.

Oval Office alumnae can look to this network as a source of information, collaboration and inspiration. Whether searching for a campaign donor, a field organizer, or a friend who can empathize, we encourage and facilitate Oval Office alumnae to remain active in the network.

City Councillor Hilda Zacarias' winning campaign

We are pleased to report the first campaign by an Oval Office alumna—Hilda Zacarias, MPA/MC and Oval Office ’06. Hilda successfully ran for City Council in Santa Maria, California in November of 2006. She is only the third woman in Santa Maria’s 102 year history to win an election to the City Council. Congratulations to Hilda, and we look forward to seeing more Cohort alumnae following her lead!
