GENDER
AT HARVARD
The study
of gender at Harvard exists across the University, a scholarly
thread
woven through disciplines and degree programs
that connects students, faculty and scholars from all corners
of the University community. The Women and Public Policy Program
at the Kennedy School; the Committee on Degrees in Studies
of Women, Gender, and Sexuality within the Faculty of Arts
and Sciences; the Women’s Studies in Religion Program
at Harvard Divinity School; the Harvard College Women’s
Center—these are all testaments to Harvard’s continuing
commitment to understanding the complex role of gender in society.
Across Harvard’s ten schools, we are approaching gender
through the frameworks of politics, public policy, law, health,
media, education, history, literature, art, and religion, creating
a rich academic landscape for the engaged scholar. This edition
of the Harvard University Guide to Gender-Related Courses serves
as a roadmap to the University’s vast interdisciplinary
approach to gender studies and an information hub for the opportunities
and resources available.
THE GUIDE
This seventh
edition of the Harvard University Guide to Gender-Related Courses
is
designed to enable students, faculty and staff interested
in learning about gender to explore gender from a variety of
disciplines. The guide was designed to facilitate students, faculty
and others identifying programs, courses and resources related
to the study of women and gender throughout the University. It
lists courses across the University with a primary or secondary
focus on gender by interdisciplinary topic. Courses are categorized
by topic based on information derived primarily from University
registrar course listings and program websites. We attempt to
be as inclusive and thorough as possible, but we are aware of
the possibility that inaccuracies or omissions may inadvertently
exist. It is also important to note that some schools only provide
partial spring course listings. Please contact the schools or
programs directly for complete course listings and cross-registration
guidelines. Full course descriptions can be found in the different
schools’ course catalogs or on course websites.
