our students to local non-profit and public sector organizations with
volunteer needs. We invite organizations looking for a single individual
volunteer or those interested in building a longer-term partnership to

Decision Making or Problem Solving Analysis:
Need Help with a long-term analysis of a decision/problem you are
facing?
The Policy Analysis Exercise (PAE) is a public policy or management
study completed for a client organization. It is a central and important
requirement of the second year for Master in Public Policy students. The
PAE is meant to be a problem-solving exercise tied to a decision the
client faces. The student is expected to define and structure the
problem with the client, gather and organize pertinent data, identify
and evaluate courses of action, develop recommendations, and produce a
clear and persuasive written report. Over a period of approximately
seven months, our students work closely with their client organization
and with two faculty advisors with expertise in the topic area.
The PAE client will contribute time in consultation and interviews and
may be responsible for incidental expenses such as travel, phones,
postage, etc. Student cannot be paid for time spent on this project.
