The Role of Science in Fisheries Management

Biography:

Andrew Solow is a Senior Scientist and Director of the Marine Policy Center at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI).  His field of research is environmental and ecological statistics. Solow's recent work has focused on reconstructing historical climate from biological proxies, inference about species extinction from sighting data, and estimating the rate of species introductions from the discovery record of introduced species. Dr. Solow has served on a variety of scientific advisory panels including the Science Advisory Panel to the U.S. Ocean Commission.
