Jake Mascotte is President and CEO of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas City. He joined Johnson and Higgins in January of 1996 as Chairman of Johnson and Higgins of Missouri, Inc. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Continental Insurance Company. After graduating form the University of Virginia Law Center, he began his career as law clerk to Howard A. Dawson, Jr., former Chief Judge of the United States Tax Court, and then joined Coopers & Lybrand as a tax specialist before becoming Executive Vice President of People's Trust Bank in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He began his insurance career in 1969 with the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company and was responsible for the Western Home Office of the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company in Kansas City from 1974 until he joined the Continental in 1981. He is an attorney, a Certified Public Accountant, and a Chartered Life Underwriter. His twenty-six year career in the Insurance business spans every aspect of the industry from life/health and employment benefits through property/casualty, reinsurance, captives, and international risk management. Jake serves on the boards of the Hallmark Cards, Inc., American
Multi-Cinema, American Home Products, and Businessmen's Assurance
Company. He is the Chairman of the Local Initiative Support Corporation,
Vice Chairman of the Aspen Institute, a member of the Board of Trustees
of the New York Public Library, and a former Trustee of the Lincoln
Center in New York |
