American Grace, the result of two groundbreaking surveys on religion and public life in America and roughly 15 in-depth case studies of diverse congregations across America, objectively examines the impact of religion on American life.
There will be sections on:
- The evidence of either a new religious revival in America or increasing secularism;
- Religious fluidity in America, such that many Americans no longer inherit their religion or congregation from their parents, and the resulting consequences;
- The strange and peaceful coexistence of religion and mutual tolerance in America;
- How religion intersects with issues off race and ethnicity;
- The interplay of religion, gender and policies around sex;
- Religion's impact on politics and attitudes towards church and state;
- How and why religious citizens are good citizens; and
- Updated evidence about whether there is a culture war afoot in America, demarcated by religion.
