Task Force for Rebuilding the Nation (TAFREN)
One of three task forces setup by the President of Sri
Lanka to facilitate reconstruction and rehabilitation work.
Interns helped to develop a micro-enterprise and small and
micro-enterprise (SME) program to rebuild and support the
livelihood of affected people. Interns also evaluated the process
for grant distribution for housing reconstruction funds in
tsunami-impacted areas.
Neelan Thiruchelvam Trust (NTT)
A grant-making body devoted to sustaining the legacy of Dr.
Neelan Thiruchelvam, a HLS graduate and former professor, who was
active in constitutional and political efforts to end the civil
war in Sri Lanka. Interns supported NTT with strategic
planning and organizational development, and assist with
program development and fundraising strategies.
Navajeevana Development
Alternatives
An NGO located in the tsunami-affected region of Kudawella that
is leading the rehabilitation and reconstruction effort.
Interns helped formulate plans to revive the local economy
through livelihood development programs for micro-enterprises and
tourism.
Center for Peace-Building and Reconciliation (CPBR)
An NGO committed to peace-building, peace-making, and
conflict resolution along the border regions between government
and rebel- controlled territories in the Eastern coast of Sri
Lanka. Interns assisted in developing programs that build
trust between divided communities through reconstruction work.

Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI)
The national agency in Sri Lanka tasked with the primary
responsibility for attracting and managing foreign direct
investment (FDI). Interns conducted research on improving
competitiveness and increasing investment in Sri Lanka, as well
as helped to develop a strategy for mobilizing investment and
maximizing FDI.
ActionAid
An international
development organization committed to eradicating global
poverty, ActionAid was formed in 1972 and has been expanding to
reach a population of 13 million people worldwide living in
poverty. ActionAid works with local partners to help them
make the most of their knowledge and experience.

Interns assisted in the establishment of the Aceh and North
Sumatra Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Implementation Board.

A non-partisan applied public policy research think tank.
Interns assisted the Aceh Recovery Forum (ARF) in the
establishment of an Aceh Development Trust Fund for Education,
as well as developed a policy assessment methodology.
Interns were also responsible for conducting the first policy
assessment of the Aceh Development Trust Fund for Education.
