Changing Faces: The Changing Demographics of Age, Race and Immigration in Massachusetts
Friday, January 14, 2005
Massachusetts is changing in a number of ways - an influx of new immigrants to our neighborhoods, an aging population that might not have saved enough for retirement and a lack of pension coverage as well as changes in the segregation of neighborhoods. The Rappaport Institute convened a group of local experts in the fields of immigration and demographics to cover questions public officials have regarding planning for the new public policy issues race, age and immigration bring to their communities.
Panelists included:
Senator Jarrett Barrios, Massachusetts State Senate
Eliza Greenberg, Commissioner, Commission on the Affairs of the Elderly
Michael Kineavy, City of Boston
John Schneider, Director of Programs and Operations at MassINC
Guy Stuart, Kennedy School of Government
and others.
