Celebration of Public Service

The Rappaport Institute has held two Celebrations of Public Service, which focus on the oft-unheralded work of elected officials. The basic premise of the lectures is to stress that public service is important and exciting. It is also a thank you to the dedicated public officials who work on our behalf.

On March 24, 56 public servants from the Greater Boston area heard Congressman Stephen Lynch speak on "The Rewards of Public Service." This event was co-sponsored by the Rappaport Institute, the Kennedy School of Government, and Suffolk University Law School and celebrated the oft-unheralded work of elected officials.

Jane Swift at the ARCO Forum

On February 5, 2002, the Rappaport Institute joined in welcoming Governor Jane Swift to the ARCO Forum. Her address, titled "Rising to the Occasion: Public Leadership in Challenging Times," provided an opportunity for the community to focus on major issues facing Greater Boston and Massachusetts. This event was co-sponsored by the Institute of Politics, the Harvard College Republican Club, the KSG Republican Caucus, and the IOP Student Advisory Committee.
