Regulatory Policy Program m-rcbg logo
OUR MISSION

Regulation is one of the primary means by which government shapes the environment in which businesses operate. The Regulatory Policy Program serves as a clearinghouse for the Kennedy School faculty's groundbreaking work on regulation. It explores the challenges posed and opportunities created by regulation without the limitations imposed by a relying on a single scholarly discipline or policy focus. Through research, seminars, conferences, and other activities, RPP facilitates communication and learning among Harvard faculty and students, regulatory officials, and industry participants, and contributes new ideas to both the regulatory community and the private sector.

SPOTLIGHT

Malcolm Sparrow, RPP faculty affiliate, is Professor of the Practice of Public Management, Faculty Chair of the MPP Program, and Faculty Chair of the Executive Program on Strategic Management of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies. His new book, "The Character of Harms: Operational Challenges in Control," examines the art of controlling risk, harms, or “bad things.” Prof. Sparrow believes controlling risk is an art worth codifying and mastering.
