M-RCBG is pleased to be able to provide a limited number of seed grants each semester to individual faculty for research and/or course development relating to the core interests of the Center. Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded. A list of grants awarded thus far is available here.
Proposals dealing with the development of new courses or new course materials in business & government are particularly encouraged.
Who is Eligible
All faculty associates of M-RCBG are eligible to apply. The available funding is limited; awards will be made through a competitive process, and not all proposals will be funded. Awards to the same individual in consecutive years will be discouraged.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit a brief but detailed proposal and budget to Scott Leland, the Center’s Executive Director, at scott_leland@ksg.harvard.edu.
The budget should include a statement of sources and amounts of other support available to the applicant for the same (or closely related) activity.
Proposal evaluation
A review committee drawn from the Center's Faculty Advisory Committee evaluates research proposals and makes recommendations to the director.
Deadline
Proposals are considered twice per year. The deadlines for the 2008/2009 academic year are 24 October 2008 and 20 March 2009.
Terms
Faculty who receive these grants are expected to contribute actively to the collective intellectual life of the Center. Faculty should acknowledge the Center’s support in future publications of any research results, if applicable. All grant recipients are requested to submit a brief memo on the use of funds within six months of the initial award. The report should focus on the intellectual and scholarly results of the activity.
