The Kennedy School Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus congratulates you on your acceptance!

Update: New Admit Day LGBT Caucus Welcome Reception: Friday, April 13th, 2007 at 5:30pm. Stay tuned for more information.

Our purpose is to educate and promote awareness for LGBTIQQ issues, and to create a supportive environment for the LGBTQ community at the Kennedy School and advocate on their behalf.  We also work to promote discussion of issues relating to the LGBTQ community throughout the world and to ensure that the leaders of tomorrow are committed to equality, fairness, and recognition for the LGBTQ community.

Over the past few years, the LGBT Caucus has:

  • Arranged a packed Forum "Being Young and Gay in America" with Mike Glatze, Maya Keyes, Chris Medeiros, and Judy Shepard.
  • Worked to bring LGBT politicians to KSG for roundtable discussions.
  • “Giggles with Gays,” a LGBTQ movie seriesdesigned to bring a human (and funny) face to LGBTQ politics and issues.  Fall movie: “But I’m a Cheerleader!
  • Presented GAY 101, a panel discussion/seminar about basic LGBTQ issues.
  • Organized fall get-togethers and a weekend trip to Cape Cod and Provincetown.
  • Organized socials for KSG students and with other LGBTQ grad student groups at Harvard and in Boston/Cambridge.
  • In February 2006, the Kennedy School was the first stop in the national “Call To Duty” Tour.  We hosted LGBTQ military service members who will speak about their experiences in the armed services and the challenges they faced under the “Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell” policy.
  • Latino/a Pride!
  • Queers of Color policy roundtable, featuring speakers from the Asian-American, Black and Latino Queer Policy Journals.
  • LGBTQ Debate Training with Cheryl Jacques, former head of HRC.
  • TransPositive bracelets and TransAwareness programming!
  • Work with Harvard Law School’s OUTlaw to present a university-wide response to recent developments in the Solomon Amendment.

We anticipate an even more eventful 2007-2008 year!  If you have any questions about queer life at the KSG or Boston, please feel free to contact:
