KSG KOREA CAUCUS

A Message from Co-Chairs of Korea Caucus

Thank you members of the Korea Caucus for electing us as the new Co-Chairs for the year 2004-2005. We take on this responsibility with humility and a commitment to serve the members of this organization and the Harvard community to the best of our abilities. We are honored to follow in the rich tradition set by our past officers and members.

A special word of thanks also to the Advisory Committee comprised of Harvard University Mason Fellows, Dr. Myung Cho, Ms. Hyekyung Kim, Mr. Kyuchong (KC) Choi and Doctorate Candidate Mr. You, Jong-Sung for their undivided support and guidance. We look forward to their continual commitment and dedication in the upcoming year. 

We sought the positions based on a pledge seeking to revitalize Korea Caucus, to make it more representative within the Harvard Community. We will devote our best efforts to achieve this goal.  For the academic year 2004-2005, we seek to extend in recognizing the role of Korea Caucus at the Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government by publishing the first edition of Korea Policy Review.  The Review will contain various policy topics and issues on Korea and the US.  The publication of the Korea Policy Review will certainly enhance the purpose of the caucus, outreaching the Korea policy perspective to academics, not only here at the Kennedy School but also to many universities across the world.  We look forward to your support and involvement to achieve this goal.

We will pursue closer relationship with Kennedy School Student Government and extend a hand of friendship and cooperation to all other student organizations to work jointly in the upcoming year. It is important to coalesce within Harvard community to make all of us more effective. We look forward to the challenges that like ahead and help from all of you to create an environment that is conducive to the enhancements of the Korea Caucus.

Our Mission

  • Actively raise the awareness of Korea within the KSG community by sharing the country's cultural heritage through social events, serving as a bridge and resource to non-Korean students who are interested in learning more about the country.

  • Provide a forum to address key issues facing Korea and the implications for the rest of the world through activities and events.

Our Activities

  • Facilitate cross university events with Harvard Business School, Education School, Law School, and College through the Harvard Korea Society.

  • Promote awareness of Korean culture within the KSG and greater Harvard Community.

  • Organize events that offer expert analysis covering the North Korea crisis.

  • Support KSG Brand Recognition by inviting distinguished guests to speak at our events to extend the KSG network, attracting and acting as a conduit to prominent firms with offices in Korea, marketing and building upon Korea Caucus alumni in Korea.
