What to Study at the KSG?

The Kennedy School is one of Harvard University's 8 professional schools. The Kennedy School's mandate is to "lead the global search for innovative, effective means of governance in the public, private and nonprofit sectors … serving as a forum for debate about the past, present and future of public service and governance". 

Degree programs

KSG's degree programs are designed to meet the distinct professional needs of several different types of students. They build upon common base of three skills, which the KSG believes leaders of change must possess to be effective: Analysis, Management, and Advocacy. 

 

There are four 2-year Master's Programs: 

  • Master in Public Policy (MPP) 

  • Master in Pubic Policy and Urban Planning (MPP/UP)

  • Master in Public Administration (MPA2)

There is one 1-year Master's Program, Mid-Career Master in Public Administration (MC/MPA)

 

There are four Doctoral Programs: 

  • PhD in Public Policy 

  • PhD in Health Policy 

  • PhD in Social Policy 

  • PhD in Political Economy and Government

Executive Programs 

Executive programs are short-term programs designed to meet the needs of appointed, career, and elected officials in government. Executive programs also serve those in the private and NGO sector who work at the interface of public/private sector concerns. They are customized programs, that run from one week to several months. They are either offered at school or in host organization/host country.
