Journalism Initiative

The Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy joined four university graduate schools of journalism in the new Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education. The initiative, a more than $6 million effort to “revitalize schools of journalism,” will feature annual investigative reporting projects, curriculum enrichment, and a task force, based at the Shorenstein Center, which will speak out on journalism issues. “We’re very flattered and glad to be part of the initiative,” said Alex Jones, director of the Shorenstein Center. “We expect that the research that will be produced from it will be meaningful.” According to Jones, selected Kennedy School students are expected to participate in journalism internships with a scholarly component starting next summer.
