Mega Honors

Alan Altshuler and David Luberoff’s Mega-Projects: The Changing Politics of Urban Public Investment recently earned mega honors when the American Political Science Association’s Urban Affairs Section named the book the best on urban politics published in 2003. Luberoff MPA 1989 is executive director of the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston. Altshuler is currently acting dean of Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and teaches at the Kennedy School. “History tends to be far more colorful than theory, so we were not sure political scientists would much notice our more general analyses,” said Altshuler on winning. “The award indicates that some of those at the forefront of urban political scholarship have indeed noticed, and it should stimulate many others to do so. This is extremely gratifying.”
