Close Call

BROWN BAG l In December 2002, actress Glenn Close came to the Kennedy School to talk about the difficulties of being a quiet, private citizen with an outgoing, public job. “I am extremely shy,” she said. “I am not happy in crowds of people.” Living in Connecticut, away from Hollywood, she said she likes to keep her personal and family life private. “I don’t like public venues. I never know what to wear,” she said. Plus, “I get bored talking about myself.” Alex Jones, director of the Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy introduced Close. It was her second visit to the center in the past year.
