Your E-Mail at HKS

Support for Web E-Mail

The HKS Student Computer Lab can help students with most of their mail problems. Should you have an issue with your mail, Go the the Lab on the Ground Floor of Taubman to start. If you are able to send E-Mail and have a general question you can also reach them with the Student Support E-Mail address.

Logging on to E-mail for the first time

The first time you log on to your HKS E-mail you will receive a couple dialog boxes asking if you "Trust" the connection. Say "Yes" to every message.

You should also make sure that your pop-up blocker accepts pop-ups from HKS.

E-Mail Code of Conduct

Mass E-mailing HKS distribution lists is strongly discouraged. Community databases and the daily messages published to HKS Today have been created for distributing information and announcing events. Students should check the Daily News E-Mail message everyday for the latest announcements.

If you wish to send mass E-mails, please look into our information regarding Listservs.

Students may also read our Responsible Use policy for more information about proper use of email.

Student Email Code of Conduct - Information about the proper way to contact your fellow students.

Access your Web Accessible E-Mail

Your HKS webmail is available by logging in to the HKS intranet (login required). The E-Mail button appears in the upper right hand corner. A more basic webmail for low speed networks is available on the options tab if needed.

Lifetime Email Address

All HKS students are assigned lifetime E-Mail forwarding addresses when their HKS E-Mail account is created. These addresses can be used immediately and will continue to be used after graduation as an agent for E-Mail forwarding.

To see what the lifetime address is, logon to the HKS intranet and on the IT Services & Technology tab you will see a link called "Lifetime E-Mail Address."

The format for your lifetime address is as follows:
firstname_lastname@ksg08.harvard.edu - john_smith@HKS08.harvard.edu

The "08" in the address above indicates that this student is expected to graduate in 2008. Your address will not change if your graduation date is another year.

Change your Password

Instructions for Changing Passwords - this pdf teaches students how to change both E-Mail and network passwords.

Using Outlook or Eudora (POP mail)

Outlook, Eudora, and other POP clients allow you to connect to the HKS mail server to collect and organize your mail. We have a special page for Outlook and other POP E-Mail clients to help you configure your client.
