Network Login and Passwords
If you do not have an account yet go to the New Accounts page.
General Information about Network Accounts
ITS creates computer accounts for current faculty and staff to access the HKS network and Lotus Notes e-mail.
- Accounts should be requested by the Financial Administrator of each department or center.
- Accounts are deleted on the last day of an employees service at the school. Upon requests, account activity may be extended 30 days after an employee's departure.
You need to log in to the HKS network to access any of your department's shared files or your personal M: drive. It is not necessary to log in to our network if you do not wish to use network space, however, several websites are located the HKS network and will not be accessible if you have skipped the login process.
NOTE: All HKS faculty and staff have both a Network username and password, as well as an Intranet username and password. Be sure to try both passwords if you have forgotten which account works.
Access to a Colleague's Personal M:/ Drive
Several HKS employees work on others personal drives after they have received permission. IT Services requires that all employees requesting access to another's personal drive fill out a request form. Once complete, you may contact your FSA to pick up the form and return it to IT Services.

Suggestions for your Password
HKS IT Services does not require users to change their password from time to time. We suggest you do the following to secure your password:
- Select a username that is easy for you to remember. Picking a password that is easy to remember will keep you from writing it down and keeping it close to your computer.
- Do not share your password with anyone at HKS. It is particularly important to not share your password when you are not required to change it.
- Pick a password that is at least 8 characters long. Longer names are more difficult to guess.
- Use a "non-alpha" character. Essentially this means include a number, or punctuation. This will make it harder for a hacker to guess your password.
