During this Commencement season, the program celebrates the accomplishments of Leah Platt Boustan, Andrew Clarkwest, Benjamin Deufel, Carola Frydman, Matissa Hollister, Wendy Roth, Natasha Warikoo, and Jong-Sung You.

 

Andrew Clarkwest, Sociology & Social Policy
Andrew Clarkwest defended his dissertation in August 2005 and is spending the 2005-07 academic years as a post-doctoral fellow with the University of Michigan Population Studies Center. Andrew is shown here sharing a toast with committee members Orlando Patterson (Chair) and David Ellwood following a successful dissertation defense. Christopher Jencks also served on Andrew's dissertation committee.



Carola Frydman, Economics
Carola Frydman will be joining the faculty of the MIT Sloan School of Management.

 

Matissa Hollister, Sociology & Social Policy
Matissa Hollister, shown here with dissertation committee members, Roberto Fernandez (MIT Sloan), David Ellwood (Chair), and Peter Marsden. Matissa spent 2005-06 as a post-doctoral fellow at Dartmouth College and will be an Assistant Professor of Sociology there in the fall.


Natasha Warikoo, Sociology
Natasha Warikoo defended her dissertation in 2005 and is an assistant professor at the University of London's School of Advanced Study. She teaches in the Institute for the Study of the Americas, which offers programs in US studies and Latin American studies.

Wendy Roth, Sociology & Social Policy

Wendy Roth will be an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, beginning July 2006. She is shown here following her dissertation defense with committee members Mary Waters (Chair), Peggy Levitt (Wellesley College), and Prudence Carter. Katherine Newman (Princeton) also served on Wendy's dissertation committee.

Jong-Sung You, Public Policy

Jong-sung You will be an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California, San Diego, effective July 2006.
