National Center for Digital Government

Welcome,

We are delighted to announce that the National Center for Digital Government has a new base of operations at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where it will continue to support research on several topics of importance including institutional perspectives on technology and governance, the structure and development of cross-agency networks, international comparative analysis of e-government, and the role of information in the policy process. The Center also will continue to serve as a catalyst for research partnerships and as a source of various global outreach and infrastructure building efforts. NCDG was previously located at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government from Spring 2002 until August 2005.

The NCDG will continue to be directed by Professor Jane Fountain. who has accepted a professorship in political science and public policy at UMass Amherst where she will also lead the development of a campus-wide Science, Technology and Society Initiative.

The new URL for the NCDG is www.umass.edu/digitalcenter.

A successor program, the Program on Networked Governance, also supported by the National Science Foundation, has been launched at the
Kennedy School. PNG will continue programming at Harvard on similar themes that the NCDG has pursued, focusing, in particular, on the governance of interconnected systems with multiple loci of authority. PNG will be directed by Professor David Lazer.

The URL for PNG is
www.ksg.harvard.edu/netgov.

The NCDG and PNG will run parallel (and occasionally joint) programming, and maintain separate e-mail lists.  We will convert this e-mail list to a list to announce PNG events.  If you would like to be removed from this list, switched or added to the NCDG list, please just respond to this e-mail and let us know what you would like us to do.
