SMART

SMART is the Harvard Kennedy School’s Student Management and Record Tracking system. Students use SMART for the following:

  • Online registration (link to pdf)
  • Online course enrollment (link to pdf)
  • Bidding (link to pdf)
  • View current course schedule
  • View grade
  • Print a copy of your unofficial transcript
  • Update address and phone number
  • Complete a degree application
  • Request a locker

Note: If you are having trouble logging into SMART using Internet Explorer and are repeatedly sent back to the PIN page here are several solutions to this problem.

  1. You can use a computer anywhere on the HKS campus. That will ensure the computer has the right security setting to allow you to login.
  2. If you are on an off-campus computer and want to adjust your security settings to the correct level make sure you are using a version of Internet Explorer greater than 5.0 (although SMART may still not work, in which case you should try the next solution). Then go to the menu Tools > Internet Options > Privacy Tab > and make sure the setting is either "Medium," "Low," or "Accept all Cookies."
  3. You can download and login with the Mozilla Firefox web browser.
