Fellowships

Pre-doctoral candidates are automatically considered for one of several multiyear fellowships, ranging from partial tuition alone to full tuition for four years plus stipend in the first two years. Awards are merit based. Some students may be admitted without aid. Additional tuition support, based entirely upon an analysis of need, may be available following acceptance into the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) in the third year of the program.

Please note: Fellowships for the Public Policy program are based on merit. Applicants are automatically considered for aid when their applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

The maximum financial package from the PhD Program in Public Policy is four years of tuition, plus stipend in the first and second years of the program.

General Note: For Fifth Year students, the tuition and health fees are combined for a total of $5,034.

Additional Funding Sources

Students are encouraged to take on teaching fellowships and research assistantships in the second year. Eligibility for research assistantships generally coincides with the development of a close-working relationship with an advisor in a research center, or with faculty members who hold independent research grants.
