Overview
All
aspects of RLA's operations came under intense public scrutiny, but none
more so than its approach to public outreach. RLA encouraged outside involvement
in two ways.
First
was the creation of a board of directors meant
to include leaders from all sectors and communities of Los Angeles. Then
came the creation of a series of task forces
meant to address specific needs within the city.
These
two approaches constituted what was intended to be the apex of the
tripod--the meetingplace of government, private sector and community--about
which Ueberroth had spoken in the first press conference.
