Jocelyne Cesari has been an associate in the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University since spring 2001. She is coordinating the Research Program on Islam in the West. A major publication, Encyclopedia of Islam in the United States, has been published by Greenwood Press in 2007 under the auspices of this research program. She has published several books and articles in European and American journals. Her most recent books are: When Islam and Democracy Meet: Muslims in Europe and in the United States (Palgrave, 2004, reedited in paperback 2006) and European Muslims and the Secular State (Ashgate, 2005). Her areas of expertise include Islam and Globalization, Muslim minorities in Europe and America, and Islam and politics in North Africa.
